Emma and Kyler met teaching at a music school and sensed a strong musical connection while chatting between lessons. After collaborating on a showcase of Emma’s original material they began to learn a wide variety of music including jazz standards, Irish folk music, timeless duets, and much more! They aspire to create a positive, uplifting atmosphere tailored to speak to any audience.

Emma McDermott is an accomplished vocalist and songwriter originally from Ann Arbor Michigan. Her background includes pop, jazz, folk and more. Her dynamic voice and engaging stage presence help to tell a story every listener can relate to. She is currently pursuing a degree in songwriting from the Berklee College of Music.

Kyler Svendsgaard is a unique guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with influences ranging from Hendrix to Segovia. He is from Oakland California where he has played in a variety of bands. In The Oak Tones he seeks to enhance the melody with subtle fingerstyle guitar. He has a degree in Music from UC Santa Cruz and has taught for 10 years.
